• To help individuals and groups to become aware of the suffering caused by poverty, injustices, divisions and violence in our society.
• To make people discover what are the causes and why their faith demands that they involve themselves socially.
• To make people able to work for a more just society where the fundamental rights and freedoms of the human person are respected.
• To deepen the social doctrine of the Church and its implications for the poor, the marginalized, the handicapped and the oppressed.
More concretely, the CEJP will have to:
• Announce and promote justice and its benefits.
• Denounce injustices and violations of fundamental rights and freedoms of the human person.
• Reconcile the community with God and with herself.
• Contribute to building a society of justice and peace.
• Train and supervise the members of the network "Justice and Peace" at all levels.
• Coordinate, in conformity with the guidelines of the CECAB (Conference of the Catholic Bishops of Burundi), the projects and the activities initiated by the network "Justice and Peace".
